Holding On to the Past

So, today Ashley (my wife) and I decided to break away from our normal grocery shopping market and try a larger store a mile or two away. As always, going to a new place is interesting – new sights, new smells, new people.

Speaking of people, a gentlemen somewhere between the age of sixty and seventy with a long gray ponytail and glasses from the late 90s caught my eye. No, it wasn’t the ponytail. Or the glasses.

It was the letterman jacket he was wearing.

Like class rings, letterman jackets generally aren’t cool after you move on past high school. So, why was this guy donning his maroon jacket forty years too late?

Maybe it’s warm.

Maybe he’s stuck in the past.

As I head into 2014, I don’t wan to be stuck in the past. I don’t want to be held back by my failures of 2013. I also don’t want to hold on to the victories of 2013. This year is a new year. A fresh start. A blank canvas.

I invite you to join me in living 100% in 2014.
